Gardena SILENO life 1500 Robotic Lawn Mower

The Gardena SILENO life 1500 is the largest model in Gardena’s South African SILENO range, rated for lawns of up to 1 500 m². On Gardena’s spec sheets it shares its body, blades and battery run time with the life 750 and 1000, and comes with a longer 250 m boundary wire for bigger perimeters.
It is a boundary-wire mower, set up with the GARDENA Bluetooth® App or on the mower’s own control panel. It suits large, open family lawns, including ones with slopes of up to 35% inside the mowing area.

Built for bigger lawns
A bigger lawn usually means a longer edge, more beds to loop around and more ground between the charging station and the far corner. The SILENO life 1500 is set up for that:
- 250 m of boundary wire and 300 hooks in the box, against 200 m on the life 750 and 1000.
- A 22 cm cut from 3 pivoting razor blades, with height adjustable from 20 to 50 mm.
- CorridorCut for passages down to 60 cm between wires, and for working its way out of dead ends.
- SensorControl, which adjusts how often it mows to how fast the grass is growing.
- Slopes of up to 35% inside the lawn.
- A display and control panel on the mower, plus app setup over Bluetooth®.
It also has the SILENO everyday features: all-weather mowing, a frost sensor, spot cutting for hard-to-reach areas, hose-down cleaning and an IPX5 rating. For security there is a PIN code, an alarm and lift sensors that stop the blades instantly.
Is it right for your lawn?
This is the figure to check first. Gardena says the SILENO life 1500 needs about 22,5 hours of mowing and charging a day to cover a full 1 500 m². At its full rating it is working almost around the clock, leaving only about an hour and a half a day when it is neither mowing nor charging.
That is why we recommend a mower rated above your lawn size. The life 1500 makes most sense on lawns well below 1 500 m², where it has time in hand. For a lawn around 1 000 m² or less, the Gardena SILENO life 1000 is worth comparing. For a lawn at or above 1 500 m², compare all our robotic mowers, including the Husqvarna Automower® range, as GSR Outdoor is an authorised Husqvarna agent.
On terrain, the limits are 35% inside the lawn and 10% along the boundary wire. Passages need at least 60 cm between wires. App control works over Bluetooth® within about 10 metres, so you manage it in the garden rather than remotely. If your lawn is mid-sized with tricky slopes, the SILENO life 750 has the same slope ability in a lower rating.
Installed and serviced by GSR Outdoor
On a large lawn, getting the wire layout right matters. We assess the lawn, install the mower and boundary wire, and demonstrate how to use it, from our workshop at 41 Delson Circle, Somerset West Business Park. Between the two of them, our founders have over 20 years of business experience, backed by over 50 years of technical, service and product knowledge in the outdoor equipment industry.
Once the mower is running, we offer:
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic tests if the mower stops performing
- Repairs and updates in our workshop
- Robotic mower servicing, with service and back-up after installation
- Parts, accessories and storage
- Collection and deliveries

Frequently asked questions
How many hours a day does the Gardena SILENO life 1500 need to run?
Gardena says about 22,5 hours of mowing and charging a day to cover a full 1 500 m². On a smaller lawn it needs fewer hours.
Is the SILENO life 1500 a good choice for a 1 500 m² lawn?
It is rated for that size, but at full capacity it has to work nearly around the clock. We recommend choosing a mower rated above your lawn size, so for a lawn close to 1 500 m² we would talk you through larger options as well.
How much boundary wire comes with the SILENO life 1500?
Gardena includes the charging station, 250 m of boundary wire, 300 hooks, 4 connectors, 5 connection clamps and a 5 m low voltage cable.
How steep a lawn can the SILENO life 1500 handle?
Up to 35% inside the mowing area and up to 10% along the boundary wire, according to Gardena.
How loud is the SILENO life 1500?
Gardena lists a perceived sound level of 57 dB(A), the same figure it gives for the SILENO minimo and the other SILENO life models.
