Husqvarna Automower® 320 NERA for rough, sloping lawns

Husqvarna Automower® NERA robotic lawn mower, front view

Plenty of gardens are not flat, square or smooth. If yours has bumps, dips and a proper slope, the Husqvarna Automower® 320 NERA is built for it. Husqvarna rates it for rough terrain on lawns up to 2 200 m², with slopes up to 50% inside the working area.

It suits a larger family garden where a basic robot would struggle. You can run it on a physical boundary wire, or choose a wire free installation using satellite technology with the EPOS Plug-in accessory.

What makes the Automower® 320 NERA different

A front axis that follows the ground

The patented non-fixed front axis is the big change on this model. Husqvarna says it increases manoeuvrability and improves rough terrain performance. On a lawn with dips and humps, that is the feature that matters most.

GPS-assisted navigation

The mower uses GPS-assisted navigation to adapt its mowing pattern, with the aim of an even result across the entire lawn.

Long run time per charge

With a 5 Ah battery, Husqvarna quotes a typical 135 minutes of mowing on one charge, longer than both the Automower® 310E NERA and the Automower® 430X NERA. Charging takes about 75 minutes.

Zones and stay-out areas

Zone Control lets you create several work areas with different settings. Temporary stay-out zones are just as easy, useful for protecting seasonal wildflowers or a garden project area for a few weeks.

App connection

Husqvarna’s specification table lists the app for this model as Automower® Connect@Home, connecting over Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi. Cellular connectivity is not listed for the Automower® 320 NERA. If you want cellular, the Automower® 430X NERA has it.

Is it right for your lawn?

The Automower® 320 NERA is the right call when slope and rough ground are the main problem. With 2 200 m² of capacity and a 50% slope rating, it suits larger family gardens that are hard work to mow by hand.

Keep the boundary rating in mind: 25% at the edge, against 50% inside the lawn. If the edge of your lawn runs along a steep bank, show us at the consultation so we can check it against that figure.

Two things it does not have: object detection and GPS theft tracking. If your lawn is full of trees, play equipment and beds, or is larger than about 2 000 m², the Husqvarna Automower® 430X NERA adds radar object detection and covers up to 3 200 m².

For a flatter lawn under 1 000 m² where edge trimming is the bigger frustration, the Husqvarna Automower® 310E NERA with EdgeCut is the better match. Or compare all our robotic mowers in one place.

Installed and serviced by GSR Outdoor

As an authorised Husqvarna agent, we start with a consultation. On a sloping lawn the questions are where the steep parts are and whether any of them run along the edge. Once you have chosen, our professionals install the mower, on boundary wire or EPOS, and show you how to run it from the mower and the app.

From then on our onsite workshop in Somerset West looks after it. Regular Automower servicing helps prevent costly failures and keeps your warranty active, and we also do repairs and updates, run diagnostic tests when something is off, and handle parts, accessories and warranty claims under one roof. If you are leaning towards wire free, remember that EPOS needs a good satellite signal, so we talk that through before recommending it.

Frequently asked questions

What size lawn is the Husqvarna Automower® 320 NERA made for?

Husqvarna rates it for lawns up to 2 200 m². Choose it when your lawn sits comfortably below that figure, so the mower has time in hand during peak growing months.

Can the Automower® 320 NERA handle a steep, bumpy lawn?

That is what it is built for. It manages slopes up to 50% inside the lawn and 25% at the boundary, and its patented non-fixed front axis improves manoeuvrability on rough terrain.

Does the Automower® 320 NERA need a boundary wire?

It is supplied for a physical boundary wire, but Husqvarna offers the option of wire free installation via satellite technology. That needs the EPOS Plug-in, which is sold separately.

What is the difference between the Automower® 320 NERA and the Automower® 430X NERA?

The Automower® 430X NERA covers up to 3 200 m², adds radar object detection, GPS theft tracking and cellular connectivity. Both share the same 50% slope rating, 24 cm cut and 20 to 60 mm cutting height.

How long does the Automower® 320 NERA run on one charge?

Husqvarna gives a typical mowing time of 135 minutes per charge and a typical charging time of 75 minutes. It returns to the charging station automatically.
